"Think Simple Now" Article

The other day I read a disturbing article on food, actually it was more about meat. I wanted to pass it along and get some feedback. What are your thoughts when you read this? I really really want to know what others think.

you know, my problem is that i go back and forth between two extremes.

one extreme is astounded by information like that found in this article, makes me want to give up all animal products and save my health, the earth, etc. etc.

the other extreme is very hedonistic, says that life is too short to give up truly delicious food. i was (as you know) raised to view food as entertainment, in a sense. every gathering with family included delicious food, meals were chosen based on taste alone, and the people in my family are EXCELLENT cooks.

i also don't want to be insulting or a pain to other people. i obviously am not going to go visit my Dad, see him cook an AMAZING meal, and then say, "sorry, i don't eat meat, do you have any cheerios?"

so that's where i am. torn between wanting to do the right thing, but not sure what the right thing is for me right now.

right now, i choose to eat Vegetarian at home and restaurants where possible (fish if no alternatives are available), but i'll eat meat if somebody prepares it for me. i will say, that it was painful (physically) to eat meat for the first time after not having it for a while.

i will not, however, call myself a vegetarian. Vegetarians take their titles seriously, and I am definitely NOT a vegetarian.

i have more thoughts, but i am out of room. ;)

curious to hear your thoughts.

that should be:
food as a part of entertainment.
not entertainment itself.
i wasn't allowed to play with my food.

Well, after a brief moment of reflection and deep love for my wife, I have decided, for myself personally, to be biblical about it. One supporting verse for me is Romans 14:2, since as a man I must be able to defend my family. However, my theme verse is Acts 10:13. Just so y'all know where Peter and I stand on this one... ;-)

Gordon, I fall back on 1 Corinthians 10:23, if we're going to get all Biblical about it. ha ha!

especially when I'm eating half a pan of brownies. "this is permissible. it's not necessarily beneficial, but it IS permissible."
